Two men have attacked a Blackpool bookmakers and stolen cash in an armed raid.
Police said two men - one armed with a knife - had gone into Ladbrokes on Whitegate Drive at 4.30pm and demanded cash from a staff member.
One of the men jumped over the counter and stole cash.
A brave customer gave chase as he and an accomplice ran off along Newcastle Avenue yesterday.
Police arrested one man near the scene of the incident but investigations are on-going to find the other.
Det Sgt Simon Pritchard, of Blackpool CID, said: “This must have been very traumatic for the female cashier to be threatened with a knife like that.
“The mere presence of a knife is very menacing.”
The female cashier was said to be “shaken” by the incident but unharmed.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward as they try to identify the second man.
Det Sgt Pritchard added: “One of the males approached the female cashier while the other assisted by remaining inside.
“A knife was produced and verbal threats were made.
“The offender has scaled the counter before stealing a quantity of cash.
“One of the customers has given chase as both the offender ran down Newcastle Avenue, heading in the general direction of Stanley Park.
“We are appealing for any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time and saw anybody acting suspiciously.”
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and was last night in police custody.
