A CHEF was surprised by a bar worker after stealing cash from a staff area.

Daniel Jackson, 24, of Ludlow Grove, Bispham, pleaded guilty to burglary.

He was sentenced to do 50 hours unpaid work for the community by District Judge Huw Edwards sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Martine Connah, said on May 29 at 2.45am a woman staff member who worked at Bar 19 went to the staff area and saw £55 had gone. She then opened an office door, screamed when she saw Jackson inside and called security staff to apprehend him.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said: “He is ashamed and mortified. He did not need the money. He had over £100 in his wallet.

“He committed the offence after drinking too much. He decided to put the money back, but was seen before he could do so.”
