Two men have made their first appearances at court charged with male rape.

They are Peter Sturdy, a 58-year old kitchen porter of Dickson Road, Blackpool and 40-year-old Jason Gibson, a night porter, from Derby Road, in Cleveleys.

Both men are charged with raping a male adult on Middle Walk near the Promenade, Blackpool, on the night of August 11.

The two men also each face a allegation of seriously sexually assaulting the man.

Their cases were sent to Preston Crown Court and they will appear at the higher court on September 5.

Both men were bailed by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

They must not enter Middle Walk, must have no contact with witnesses and were made the subject of a curfew by the court.
