Alexander Towers barged into Blackpool’s Rosehaven Rest Home yelling; “I’m going to kill everyone in here – it’s not nice being on your own at Christmas.”

He hurled one woman care worker against a wall knocking her unconscious for 10 minutes.

Towers, a 24-year-old coffee shop worker, of Iddon Court, Bispham, pleaded guilty to assault and resisting arrest.

He was sentenced to 14 weeks jail suspended for 12 months with 30 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service, ordered to pay £100 compensation to the carer he knocked unconscious and told to pay £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Towers banged on the door of Rosehaven Rest Home, Whitegate Drive, at 9.40pm on Christmas Day.

A carer repeatedly asked him to leave, telling him there were vulnerable elderly residents there, but he barged past her, before grabbing her throat and pushing her. She hit a wall with her head and blacked-out for 10 minutes.

Towers left, but returned 10 minutes later, threatening to kill everyone there and throwing a radio at a carer who was calling the police.

He also threw a wooden garden ornament at a police officer who chased him after he was found hiding under a bush.
