A drunken man gave hospital staff a torrent of abuse at Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s emergency unit.
Blackpool Magistrates heard how Daniel Green had been taken to the hospital for treatment to an injured hand following an incident outside his home on Balmoral Terrace, Fleetwood.
He was foul-mouthed to doctors and nurses and then assaulted a security officer by spitting at himMalcolm Isherwood
Green , 28, admitted threatening behaviour and assault.
Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said that when Green was interviewed by police after his arrest, he had little recollection of what he had done and had no remorse for his actions.
He had been drunk at the time.
The prosecutor told the court: “Security guards were called to A&E when Green failed to respond to staff’s requests.
“He was not compliant and at one stage fell asleep on a bed.”
“He was abusive and swore at security staff and then police were called and he abused them as well.
“He was foul-mouthed to doctors and nurses and then assaulted a security officer by spitting at him .
“The spit hit him in the face and mouth.”
Green was on licence from a prison sentence at the time of the incident.
Peter Cave, defending, said his client would now return behind bars until August 24.
“He was sent to prison originally for an offence of harassing his wife.” said Mr Cave
“He has mental health issues.”
Magistrates jailed Green for a further 16 weeks and ordered him to pay £280 court costs.
