Three men wanted after a train driver is spat at and punched on a Blackpool-bound service at Burnley station

A train driver was assaulted on a Blackpool-bound train on Tuesday and police are looking for witnesses after three men ran from the incident in Burnley.

British Transport Police officers were called to Burnley’s Manchester Road Station following the incident on a York to Blackpool North service shortly after 11pm.

The train driver had been assaulted including being spat at and punched to the face and back of head. Three males ran away from the incident at the train station.

A BTP spokesman said: “Officers were called to Burnley Manchester Road station at 11.10pm on September 27 after reports that a member of rail staff had been assaulted. Thankfully he did not require medical treatment.

“There have been no arrests. Any witnesses can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting referenced 485 of September 28.”
