Three men rushed to hospital following machete attack at Blackpool hotel

Three people were rushed to hospital after they were attacked by a group of men carrying weapons at a hotel in Blackpool.

A group of approximately seven men brandishing weapons attacked another group of men in a vicious attack at the Doric Hotel in Queens Promenade last night (July 5).

The men - who police say were in possession of machetes as well as other weapons - made off from the scene when officers arrived at 11.15pm.

Three people were taken to hospital following the altercation. Two remain in hospital but their injuries are not thought the be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made as of yet, but police believe there is no wider threat to the public.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at around 11.15pm last night (Sunday, July 5) to a hotel on Queens Promenade, Blackpool, to reports of a public order incident.

"We attended and found a group of approximately seven men, in possession of weapons including machetes, had attacked another group of men before making off from the area.

"At this point we believe all parties involved are known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public."

Police have confirmed enquiries are "very much ongoing".

Three ambulances and a rapid response vehicle rushed to the scene to help the injured men.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We attended an incident on Queen’s Promenade, Blackpool after 11pm last night.

"We sent three ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene and took three patients to hospital.
