An investigation has been launched after thieves raided a convenience shop in Poulton overnight.

Police were called shortly after 6am on Wednesday, December 20 when staff discovered the shop's doors had been smashed in.

A spokesman for the police said: "We were informed by members of staff of the burglary as they arrived to open up the shop first thing this morning.

"It looks like they have entered the premises overnight by smashing the doors in.

"The offenders attacked the ATM, but we don't know how much money was taken at this stage."

Police say nobody was injured during the incident.
