The day after being released from prison, a man went out stealing to fund his heroin habit.

Sean Morrison, 26, of Central Drive, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to two offences of theft. He was bailed for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Morrison put chicken, pork and gammon valued at £17 into a basket at the Co-op, Coronation Street on March 12. He then ran out of the store.

On March 13, a CCTV operator at M&S saw Morrison running from the store carrying Easter eggs valued at £16. He was caught nearby.

Howard Green, defending, said his client had had a drink problem. Mr Green added: “He has come out of the frying pan of alcohol and fallen into the fire of heroin.”
