Police are hunting for a Blackpool woman who went on the run from the law when she escaped from an ambulance.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Teresa McAlinden, of Crofters View, who was on her way to hospital when the emergency vehicle crashed.
The 42-year-old was due to be sentenced for theft at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court today, when she fell ill and the ambulance was called.
She claimed she could not walk and paramedics were called, who decided to take her to hospital.
However, the ambulance crashed en route and McAliden opened the rear door and ran off.
She had been due to face sentencing after being found guilty of stealing £500 and a mobile phone from a Welsh man who had been on holiday in the resort.
Instead, District Judge Jeff Brailsford issued a warrant for her arrest.
