Liam Barnsley, 21, failing to comply with the conditions of a Sex Offences Registration Order

A convicted paedophile broke the law when he stayed at an address where four children lived.

Liam Barnsley, who had previously been convicted of a sex offence against a 15-year-old girl, failed to tell the police he frequently stopped over at the home of a mother-of-four.

Barnsley, 21, of Lowrey Terrace, South Shore, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the conditions of a Sex Offences Registration Order between January 6 and February 4 this year.

He was bailed to appear for sentenced by a judge at Preston Crown Court on April 8 by Blackpool magistrates who said their powers were not sufficient to sentence him.

Prosecutor, Tracy Yates, told the court: “There was a risk of serious harm in this case.”

She said Barnsley was put on the Sex Offenders Register in 2017 and the conditions of the order stated that he must notify the police within three days if he lived or stayed at an address for at least 12 hours where there were people under 18.

On February 4, police received information Barnsley stayed regularly with a mother-of-four on Blackpool’s Grange Park Estate whose children were 16 and under.

Officers went to the address and a girl answered the door.

Barnsley and the mother were asleep on the floor and when roused described as intoxicated.

When the mother was told of Barnsley’s record she did not appear shocked and later said she wanted to continue the relationship.

When questioned, Barnsley told police he and the woman had been in a relationship about a month.

At first he had stayed at her home twice a week and then about four to five times a week.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client had been put on the Sex Offenders Register when he was 18 and had had a 15-year-old girlfriend.Mr Nelligan added:”He was trying to make a

new start by getting a girlfriend of the correct age, but he went about it the wrong way.”

Daniel Elliot, 20, dangerous driving

A man drove dangerously through a residential area as he was chased by police.

Daniel Elliot reached speeds of 50 miles per hour even though he was driving a Nissan over traffic calming. bumps.Elliot, 20, of Mickeldon Road ,Blackpool, admitted dangerous driving through the streets of Bradford when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates.

He also admitted having no insurance and no licence.

He was given a 12 month community order with thirty rehabilitation days.

He must do 200 hours unpaid work and pay £175 costs.He was banned from driving for twenty months .

Philip Robinson, prosecuting, said as police began to follow the Nissan Daniel increased his speed and corner dangerously

He tries to overtake other cars in a dangerous manner.

“Other drivers had to take evasive action and it was fortunate no pedestrians tried to cross the roads,” said the prosecutor.

Adam Whittaker, defending, said the incident only lasted one-and-a-half minutes.

“No one was injured and no property damaged,” said Mr Whittaker.“However he does not seek to minimise his actions”

Anthony Read, 34, drink-driving

A former soldier was caught over the alcohol limit in Blackpool after drinking beer that was stronger than he was used to.

Anthony Read, 34, of Coventry Avenue, Bootle, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 17 months, fined £120 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £32 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Sophie Gillespie, said on February 8 at 1.25am police received a tip-off about a potential drink driver.

An officer saw Read’s Ford Mondeo being driven erratically and weaving on the A583 at Kirkham.

A breath test showed 61 microgrammes of alcohol in his body - 35 is the

limit.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client, who had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, took issue with the police saying his car had been weaving.

He had come to Blackpool to visit his partner and they went to a bar where he had some beer which was stronger than he would normally drink.He had drunk water for more than an hour

after and felt fit to drive.
