Waseem Adalat, 33, child abduction

A man has made his first appearance at court charged with four child abduction offences.

Waseem Adalat is alleged to have abducted four children aged between ten and 14 in Blackpool,Lancs in 2018.

Adalat appeared before District Judge Jane Goodwin at Blackpool Magistrates who ruled the allegations against Adalat, 33, f Balmoral Place, Halifax, West Yorkshire were so serious they would have to be heard at Preston Crown Court.

Adalat was bailed on condition he does not contact witnesses or enter Blackpool. He will appear at Crown Court on March 25.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and said from the dock: “These are nonsense accusations.”

Simon Willis, 32, criminal damage

A man smashed his former friend’s front door window with a baseball bat after they fell out.

Simon Willis, 32, of Wingrove Road, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to causing damage.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation with £85 costs plus £32 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Andrew Robinson, said Willis and another man had been friends but they fell out.

Willis asked for the return of some games equipment but the ex-friend said no.

Half-an-hour later the former friend heard a bang at his front door. He saw its double-glazed window had been broken and Willis running away with a bat in his hand.

Willis, who had no previous convictions, told magistrates he had lent the former friend game playing equipment belonging to his disabled son and when they fell out he refused to return it.

He added: “He then said I controlled my wife and I saw red.”

Michael Hearne, 25, drink-driving

A motorist was more than twice over the limit when he crashed into railings near traffic lights. Michael Hearne, 25, of Burnsall Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 20 months, fined £240 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £32 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Andrew Robinson, said police received information about a potential drink driver, on February 2, at 3.50am and headed towards the Layton area.Officers saw Hearne’s Ford

Fiesta crashed into railings near traffic lights on Plymouth Road.

A breath test showed 84 microgrammes of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.

David Charnley, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, was a decent young man from a good family who had made a mistake.

Hearne had been at a friend’s home with other friends when there was an incident.He panicked and to avoid harm to himself jumped into his car.

Adam Fishwick, 37, theft

A man who was out of work stole hundreds of pounds f toiletries to give as presents in the run-up to Christmas.

Adam Fishwick, an electrician, 37, of Exchange Street, North Shore, pleaded guilty to theft.

He was fined £166 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £32 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Andrew Robinson, said Fishwick was seen on CCCTV at Debenhams, on December 23, taking £369 of toiletries, mainly perfumes.

Fishwick went into the store the next day and was detained.

All the stolen property was recovered from his home.

David Charnley, defending, said his client only had two offences to his name, one for cannabis possession and the other for assault 10 years ago.

Fishwick worked as an electrician but at the time of the offence he was out of work.

Mr Charnley added: “He was desperate to get presents, but went about it the wrong way. He co-operated fully and took the police to where the stolen property was.”

Laura Howarth, 38, theft and false accounting

A woman has made her first appearance a court charged with the theft of almost £100,000 from her employer.

Laura Howarth, 38, is alleged to have committed the theft over a five year period when she worked for energy company British Independant Utilities based on Clifton Drive North ,St Annes.

Howarth of Devona Avenue, Blackpool, is also charged with false accounting by inputting incorrect amounts into the company accounting system.

Howarth was sent for trial at Preston Crown Court by District Judge Jane Goodwin.

She will appear at Preston on March 25. She was bailed in the me time.

Her lawyer Allan Cobain did not enter any pleas.
