Mitchell Flackett, 32, criminal damage, breach of suspended sentence

A man was found by police hiding in an airing cupboard. Officers had been called to an address on Easington Crescent, Blackpool, where Mitchell Flackett had gone on a drunken rampage at his girlfriends home.

Flackett, 32, of Elizabeth Court, Poulton, admitted criminal damage to furniture ,light fittings and a window.

He was also in breach of a previously imposed suspended sentence. Magistrates heard Flackett had been drinking vodka before he lost his temper and started kicking out.

His lawyer Patrick Nelligan said: “He accepts he will be going to prison.”

Flackett was jailed for eight weeks and must pay a victims’ surcharge of £122 .

Helen Walker, 40, theft and breach of community order

A mother went shoplifting to raise money to pay for her teenage daughter’s birthday present.

Magistrates heard that 40-year-old Helen Walker, of Simpson Street, South Shore, stole chocolate and alcohol in three thefts from Aldi valued at a total of £127.

She then targeted a Tesco Express taking chocolate and other goods valued at £60.

She admitted five shoplifting offences and breaching a community order by failing to turn up for appointments with probation.

Patrick Nelligan ,defending, said: “She did not steal for drugs. She wanted to buy her daughter a present.”

Walker was given an eight week prison term suspended for a year . She must pay the stores compensation for their lost goods, She must also undertake 25 rehabilitation days.

Peter Wood, 40, breach of probation order

A man disappeared from the probation service after his release from prison.

Peter Wood, 40, of Central Drive ,Blackpool should have attended post sentence supervision with the service.

He failed to do so and had no traceable address.

Wood admitted breaching the order.

His lawyer, Brett Chappell, said that Wood had now found a home and has stopped drinking

“He did not disappear he went to his aunt’s funeral in Scotland,” he said.

Magistrates said they would give him a last chance and decided not to send him back to prison

Bench chairman Andrew McVinnie told him: “You seem to be trying to get a new start.”

Jason Wadsworth, 24, assault

A man accused of carrying out two assaults at Blackpool North station will stand trial on April 24.

Jason Wadsworth, 24, formerly of the Tramway Hotel, Blackpool, denied the charges .

Wadsworth, who is now living in Bolton, must not enter the railway station as a term of his bail.

Stephen Devlin, 25, speeding, drug driving, driving without insurance

A man who drove around the county’s roads at speeds up to 135 miles per hour has admitted dangerous driving.

Stephen Devlin drove a BMW 330 at high speed in a bid to evade police. Magistrates sent him for sentencing at Preston Crown Court because their powers were insufficient.

Devlin, 25, of Selbourne Road, Blackpool, was remanded in custody pending his appearance at the higher court on March 18.

Devlin also admitted drug driving and driving without insurance.

His lawyer Brett Chappell did not apply for bail.

The police chase took place along the A584 and A583.

Hannah Sloan, 26, drink-driving

An estate agent was almost three times over the drink-drive limit after going to Blackpool for a Kaiser Chiefs concert.

Hannah Sloan wept in the dock as a court was told she was seen driving in the resort without headlights by police.

Sloan, 26, of Dale Street, Lancaster, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned from the road for 23 months, fined £380 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £37 victims’ surcharge.

Presiding magistrate, James Dickinson, told her: “It was a really bad decision for you to drive at all.”

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police saw Sloan driving without headlights on the resort’s Reads Avenue, on January 24 at 8.35pm, and she was signalled to stop.

The officer drew alongside Sloan and after talking to her through the car window got the impression she had been drinking. When asked if she had had a drink she denied it.

A breath test showed 93 microgrammes of alcohol in her body. Sloan and her mother had come to the resort for a Kaiser Chiefs concert at the Winter Gardens. They had been harassed and Sloan wanted to get away as soon as possible.
