Lee Howarth, 27, assault and trespassing on the railway

A man attacked two train station staff after walking across a live line and climbing onto a platform at Blackpool North.

Lee Howarth, 27, of Lloyd Gardens, Altringham, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and trespassing on the railway.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with up to 20 days’ rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation with £85 costs, plus £90 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor Sophie Gillespie said Howarth was seen at the North station climbing over a fence, crossing a live line, and getting onto a platform on Thursday, January 30.

When challenged, Howarth said he did not have a ticket and was escorted away and told he would not be allowed to travel.

He threatened staff, saying he would hit a male worker in the face and called a woman worker a derogatory name, the court was told.He also shook a can of lager, spraying it in the

woman’s face, and called her a “cow” before spitting at his male victim.

When interviewed by police, Howarth admitted being under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Peter Manning, defending, said his client accepted his behaviour was unacceptable, although nobody was physically hurt.

Howarth was said to be ashamed of himself, and apologised to rail staff.

Zenia Moreano, 48, assaulting a police officer

A mum-of-four peed on a police officer trying to arrest her, the court was told.

The female PC said she felt “dirty and humiliated” by Zenia Moreano, who claimed it was an accident.

The 48-year-old, of Onslow Road, Layton, admitted assaulting the officer on New Year’s Eve. The trainee social worker also admitted criminal damage after breaking her victim’s £120 glasses.

She was given a 12-month community order with a three-month curfew. She must pay the officer £250 compensation and pay for new glasses.

Police were called to a fracas outside Moreano’s home, the court was told, with her daughter trying to separate a scrapping man and woman.

Officers called at Moreano’s home as part of their investigation, and Moreano lashed out, prosecutor Pam Smith said.During a struggle, the female officer felt a warm fluid soaking into her

trousers, and realised she had been urinated on.

Ms Smith said: “The officer felt physically sick, dirty, humiliated, and degraded.”

Moreano was arrested and admitted during an interview she had “lost it” because she thought her son was going to be arrested.

Defence lawyer Patrick Nelligan said: “My client maintains the urination was an involuntary action. She did not pull her pants down to do it.”

Jack Fawcett, 34, assaultA Fleetwood man accused of attacking a woman was bailed.

Jack Fawcett, 34, of Birbeck Place, is accused of assaulting her on Thursday.

He was banned from entering Lord Street, London Street, or Whinfield Avenue, all in Fleetwood, as terms of his bail.

Fawcett’s next hearing was set for Friday, March 6.

Junaid Gul, 41, criminal damage

A witness saw a man twice booting the driver’s door of a BMW after a row with a woman on his birthday, the court was told.

Junaid Gul, a 41-year-old kiln operator from Sussex Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to causing damage.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £300 compensation with £85 costs and £21 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecturo Sophie Gillespie said a witness saw a man and woman screaming at each other at around 1am on Saturday, February 1.

They then saw Gul kick the door twice, denting it and scuffing it.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said Gul and the woman came to the resort to celebrate his birthday.

They bickered and, in frustration, he kicked out at a glass bottle in the street, not realising it had hit the BMW, Mr Duffy added.
