Amanda Green, 46, drink-driving

A woman stopped by police because her car was falsely registering as having no insurance was found to be over the alcohol limit.

Amanda Green, 46, of Lake Road, Fairhaven, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned from the road for 12 months, fined £225 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £32 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police saw Green driving a Citroen C1 on Woodlands Road, Ansdell, on the evening of January 24, which registered as being uninsured.

She then drove into her driveway on Lake Road. An officer spoke to her and she said she had been to a local shop.

A breath test showed 54 microgrammes of alcohol in her - 35 is the limit.

A subsequent check by police showed her car was insured.

Green, who had no previous convictions, apologised and told magistrates: “It was a bad choice. Usually I would have gone on a push bike. I have let myself and my family down.”

She added her father was ill and she usually drove him for the treatment he needed, so she felt she had really let him down.

William Kelly, 35, criminal damage

A man who had a grudge against a hotel owner smashed a window in anger

William Kelly , 35, of Fairhurst Street ,Blackpool, admitted criminal damage to the value of £200.

He was sent to Preston Crown Court for sentence where he will appear on March 11. He must not enter Albert Road where the New Oxford Hotel is.

Steven Townley ,defending, said: “He had worked over Christmas at the hotel and felt he was still owed money. He banged on the door and the window broke.”

Lisa Ball, fraud

A woman used money gained through benefit fraud to help fund her partner’s drug habit.

Lisa Ball of Sherbourne Road, North Shore, illegally took £2,865 in Employment Support Allowance and Housing Benefit.

She admitted two offences of dishonesty and magistrates gave her an 18 month conditional discharge.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said that Ball failed to disclose work she had done for a company cleaning caravans and hotels.

Steven Townley, defending, said: “Although she and her partner live separate lives she felt she had to help him buy drugs because he is an addict. She is repaying the money.”

Jason Jackson, 34, failing to stop after an accident, driving without due care and attention, driving without a licence and drug-driving

A driver involved in a hit-and-run accident at Fleetwood failed to stop after colliding with another car.

Jason Jackson, 34, of Hodder Grove, Darwen, pleaded guilty to failing to stop in a Renault Megane after damage was caused to another vehicle on Copse Road on November 10.

He also admitted driving without due care and attention and without insurance on the same date.

Jackson further pleaded guilty to drug driving in a Ford on the M55 at Wesham with 6.6 units of cannabis in his body - 2 is the limit - on September 25. He had a previous conviction for drug driving.

Jackson’s case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports until February 19 and he was made the subject of an interim driving ban by magistrates.

Leanne Botfield, 36, assault

A drunken woman tried to kick the main door to Blackpool Central library.

The town’s magistrates heard how she had been refused entry to the Queens Street building because of her state.

Police were called to remove homeless 36-year-old Leanne Botfield and she punched one officer on the chest before she was hancdcuffed.

Botfield admitted assault. Botfield who has several previous convictions for assault was given a 26 week jail term suspended for 18 months and 30 rehabilitation days.

Jamie Rana, 34, drug-driving

A man was caught driving with a by-product of the class A drug cocaine in his body.

Jamie Rana, 34, of Ribble Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to drug driving.

The court was told when Rana was stopped driving a Vauxhall Astra on Vicarage Lane, Marton, on August 28 a blood test showed 428 units of benzoylecgonine, a by-product of cocaine, in his body - 50 is the limit.

Rana’s case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports and he was made the subject of an interim driving ban by magistrates.
