A teenager risked her life when she went onto the tracks to try to retrieve a mobile phone she had dropped.

With a train due in at Blackpool North station a staff member suddenly saw the top of a woman’s head moving around below the platform.

Cheryl-Ann Hesketh, who had been drinking, was eventually persuaded to get back on the platform.

Hesketh, 18, of Cypress Close, Preston, was found guilty of trespassing on the line after a trial in her absence and fined £200 with £85 costs and a £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
