Teenager 'fortunate to survive' after being stabbed during brawl at Blackpool park

A teenager who suffered a "serious injury" after being stabbed during a fight at Crossland Road Park in Blackpool was "fortunate to survive", according to police.

Police were called to reports a man had been assaulted at Crossland Road Park at around 6.30pm on Monday (June 8).

On arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old man had been stabbed in the leg after an altercation had broken out between a "small" group of people.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders, and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Det Sgt Marc Armstrong, of Blackpool CID, said: "This incident left a man with a serious injury from he was fortunate to survive.

"This level of violence is completely unacceptable and we are making efforts to identify those responsible but we need the public’s help and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who filmed the incident on a mobile phone to come and speak to us so we can piece together exactly what has gone on."

Police are especially keen to hear from anyone who may have footage of the incident.

Officers believe everyone involved in the incident knew each other and there is no wider threat to the public.
