A teenager damaged an anti self harm suit he had been issued with by police to wear in a cell.

Luke Denny bit pieces from the top of the suit and then had to have the shorts section of the suit taken off him by a detention officer.

Denny, 19, of Grasmere Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to causing £55 of damage to the two-piece self-harm suit belonging to Lancashire police and of being drunk and disorderly.

He was given a 12- month conditional discharge, fined £75 and ordered to pay £55 compensation plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Denny told magistrates he was disgusted by his behaviour but added that he and his ex partner had been leaving the area when they were told to.
