A TEENAGE house burglar has walked free from court.

Ryan Duffy admitted burgling a house on Cairnryan Close, Blackpool, when he appeared in the dock at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

The 18-year-old house burglar has been given an 18 week suspended jail term.

Duffy broke into the house on Cairnryan Close, Bispham, and took a mobile phone and wallet valued at £150 while he was inside.

Blackpool magistrates heard how Duffy, who lives on nearby Primrose Bank, knew the householder sometimes left her door open when she went on short trip to the shops.

On the day of the raid he saw her leave the property and decided to take the opportunity to break in.

The court was told how Duffy went in through an unlocked door and searched the property before taking the items.

He later put a message about the phone on the social networking website Facebook.

Paul Robinson, defending, said his client was influenced by bad company and was not particularly dangerous by himself.

He added: “This young man is easily led by the company he keeps.

“Unlike some defendants of his age he does not have their air of cockiness or invincibility.”

As well as the suspended jail term, Duffy was placed on a curfew.
