Teen arrested after Norbreck Castle Hotel rooftop stand-off

A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly threw debris from the roof of the Norbreck Castle Hotel, say police.

UPDATE: Police continue talks with young male on castle hotel roof

Witnesses described a person throwing scaffolding poles and pieces of concrete from the roof for several hours.

Police say a car was damaged and a window at the hotel was broken during the incident.

A trained negotiator was called in who successfully talked the teenager into climbing down from the roof at around 10.30pm.

A spokesman for the police said: "A male has got himself up on the roof and started throwing bits of concrete and scaffolding poles down.

"Trained negotiators were called and engaged with him.

"He was talked down from the roof and into a room and arrested."

Police say a second "male" who briefly climbed onto the roof was also arrested in connection with the incident.

A 17-year-old boy from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and is in police custody.

A 16-year-old boy from Thornton Cleveleys was also arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace and obstructing a police officer. He is also in police custody.
