The teen had cuts and bruises after a scrap "in the area of Lowther Gardens and then Green" last night, cops said.

Officers were called at 8pm after up to 30 youngsters were said to be brawling, with an ambulance seen parked in front of a police 4x4.

But Insp Mick Jones from Fylde's neighbourhood policing team, said "a minor altercation had broken out between a small group, with the rest there as onlookers".

Describing the fracas as a "small scuffle", he said nobody was badly hurt and the lad thought to "be the main organiser" was taken home so officers could talk to his parents.

Insp Jones also slammed unsubstantiated reports suggesting the teens were wielding knives and knuckle-dusters.

He added: "We know there are rumours circulating on social media that those in attendance were in possession of weapons, but there were already a number of officers in the area and they had found no evidence of this."

"We would now urge parents of teenagers to make sure they know where their children are and what they are doing, not least because Lancashire is currently in tier 3 of coronavirus regulations and it is simply unacceptable for groups of this size to be meeting up and potentially spreading the virus and putting their families, friends and wider communities at risk."
