A taxi driver accused of sexually attacking a teenage girl who was a passenger in his cab has made his first appearance before a court.

Turkish-born Fatih Top, 38, formerly of the Dolunay Takeaway, Church Street, Blackpool, now living at Birchway Avenue, Blackpool, is charged with committing a serious sexual offence on an 18-year-old girl in his taxi in Blackpool on January 27 this year.

Trevor Colebourne, defending, said his client had indicated he would plead not guilty to the offence.

Top was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 25 by Blackpool magistrates.

He must not drive a taxi for payment or otherwise, must surrender his passport and must not contact prosecution witnesses as conditions of his bail, he was told by the court.
