The boss of a Chinese takeaway has appeared before a magistrates’ court accused of having dirty premises and equipment.

He has also appeared accused of failing to have adequate procedures in place to control pests such as mice.

Wai Kong Yu, 52, of the Coral Takeaway, Highfield Road, South Shore, faces 10 offences of breaking food hygiene laws, the court was told.

He had the Blackpool Magistrates’ Court proceedings relayed to him in Cantonese by an interpreter.

The prosecution, which was brought before the court by Blackpool Council, was adjourned to November 20 by the magistrates.

Wai Kong Yu was told he should return to the court for another hearing on that date.
