A man arrived in Blackpool and brought a knife with which he intended to kill himself.

Jamie Smith still had the knife in its package when he rang relatives in Warrington to say he was about to commit suicide.

They alerted police who found Smith on South Promenade.

He was arrested and charged with having a craft knife in a public place.

He admitted the offence and was bailed for a week by Blackpool Magistrates so pre sentence reports can be prepared on him.
