A stolen black Range Rover was pursued by police on the M55 after it failed to stop for officers on September 19.

As the vehicle was heading into Blackpool the driver slammed the Range Rover into a police car, forcing it off the carriageway - a manoeuvre which caused the police car to be "significantly damaged".

The car then collided with a second police vehicle before continuing into the resort shortly before 1pm. No arrests have been made.

None of the police officers were seriously injured as a result of the incident, but detectives are now appealing for anyone with information and/or dash cam footage to come forward.

PC Andrew Sidgreaves, of Lancashire Police's Tactical Operations', said: "This will have been a terrifying time for members of the public who witnessed this and it is extremely fortunate that an officer was not more seriously injured.

"Our enquiries are very much ongoing and we are now asking for the public's help identifying the driver involved.

"We are particularly keen to get hold of any dash cam or CCTV footage from the area which would assist with our investigation."

Officers say the Range Rover was spotted being driven dangerously both on the M55 eastbound and on Progress Way in Blackpool. It was later found abandoned.
