A man accused of stabbing another man in the chest with a knife has made his first appearance at court.

John Colraine, 57, of Sefton Avenue, Layton, Blackpool, is charged with assault, causing actual bodily harm.

The offence is alleged to have taken place as the alleged victim sat in a car at Blackpool on Sunday. Tracy Yates, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court . Suzanne Mugford, defending, said her client would plead not guilty to the offence.

Colraine was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on June 5 by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

He must live at his given address and not contact the complainant or go within 50 metres of his home as conditions of his bail.
