An anonymous tip-off led to police arresting a drink-driver after spotting him motoring slowly at 20mph along a country road.

Anthony Crook admitted he had had four pints of lager and a test showed he was more than twice over the alcohol limit.

Crook, 44, of Marquis Drive, Freckleton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 17 months and fined £300 with a £150 court charge plus £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, said on May 13 at 11.30pm police received an anonymous report that Crook was in the Windmill pub, Clifton, having driven there. Police saw him driving a Xsara Picasso on Clifton Lane at just 20mph on the road where the speed limit was de-restricted.

Carl Millar, defending, said his client thought he would be okay to drive, but he had made a mistake.
