Shoplifters stole to fund their drugs habits

Joseph Edwards, 53, of Saville Road, and Sonya Richardson, 38, of Beardshaw Avenue, also Blackpool, went to an ASDA store and stole a quantity of CDs and blu-rays.

Edwards admitted one shoplifting offence at the supermarket and Richardson admitted three offences all involving CDs.

Edwards who has 64 previous conviction was jailed for eight weeks and Richardson was placed on a 12-month community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement.

District Judge Alan Jones was told that the ASDA stores in Blackpool and Fleetwood were the victims.
