A man described as a prolific shoplifter who cost local businesses dear has been jailed.
Christopher Easter, 39, of Gorton Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to theft.
He has a criminal record of 188 previous offences for shoplifting and theft.
Easter was sentenced to six weeks jail and ordered to pay £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Presiding magistrate, Christine Greaves, told him: “You appear to have failed to respond to any community order.
“You have 188 previous theft and like offences, which has resulted in financial loss to local businesses.”
Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, said a security guard at Costcutters, Central Drive, saw Easter put four cans of lager valued at £10 in his coat and walk out without paying on January 12 at 2pm.
Suzanne Mugford, defending, said her client, who had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, was getting specialist help for his drug and alcohol issues.
