One of Blackpool’s most prolific female shoplifters has appeared in court again and has been sent to prison.

Noreen Hanson, 47, is fast approaching her century of convictions for the crime, Blackpool Magistrates were told.

Magistrates were asked to re-sentence on her on a matter when she was convicted at a trial in her absence.

In that case she was found guilty of the theft of £500 in cash and a mobile phone from a male Welsh holidaymaker she had lured back to her home.

Hanson of Ibbison Court, Blackpool admitted her latest offences and she was jailed for 20 weeks.

She pleaded guilty to stealing an Elvis CD worth £9-99 from HMV. She further admitted stealing Disney books and playing cards worth £83.87 and the theft of meat worth £30 from Grasmere News.

The court heard that the offences were committed while she was under the influence of 15 tablets of diazepam which she had taken earlier in the day.

Hanson also admitted and earlier theft of two pink childrens’ jackets from Primark worth £28.

She was also in breach of a conditional discharge and breaching her community order by failing to keep in touch with her probation officer.
