Police are looking for two Blackpool fans who are the victims of an alleged assault following scenes of disorder as Blackpool met Preston North End in their first derby in four years.

Det Insp Paddy O’Neill said two Blackpool supporters, believed to have travelled to Preston from Leeds, were attacked in their car, a Ford Fiesta, while it was in stationary traffic.

He said: “At 10pm on Deepdale Road it is suspected that two fans were in their car wearing Blackpool shirts. They were attacked, causing minor injuries, and their car was damaged.”

Det Insp O’Neill said it was believed the car’s windows were smashed following the match, which ended with PNE fans invading the pitch.

The victims are asked to contact police on 101.

Anyone who saw the incident on Monday night, or has information about the victims or their attackers can call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
