Sokolowski, 44, of Linden Place, Bispham, pleaded guilty to two thefts and was found guilty of another.

He also admitted breaching bail and being in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed for burglary.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Sokolowski had been sentenced to 18 weeks imprisonment suspended for two years for an offence of burglary at the resort’s Boots shop on February 23.

Two days after being put on the suspended jail sentence Sokolowski stole £5 of deodorant and biscuits from the Esso Garage, Collingwood Avenue.

On April 26 he stole chocolates worth £26 from the WH Smiths shop in Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

He had denied that offence but was found guilty after a trial.

Then in July he took five packets of salmon valued at £15 from the resort’s Sainsburys.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had a long-standing addiction to heroin.

But since being given a community sentence, with the help of the probation service and the Community Drug Team, Sokolowski had cut right down on his heroin use.

Sokolowski had had problems with his benefits and that was why he had resorted to going shoplifting.
