A man who described himself as a binge drinker swore at police.

Jamie Anderson said he had once lost a total of £19,000 in gambling sessions at a casino and his life had fallen apart because he could not handle his money or his alcohol.

Anderson, 30, of Raikes Parade, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was given a 12 months’ conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police found Anderson drunk on The Strand on September 1 at 3.20am. He shouted and swore, saying: “I will ring the boys and then you will get sorted.”

Despite numerous warning he refused to calm.

Anderson told magistrates: “I apologise, I’m not doing it deliberately. I am a binge drinker and I can’t help it.”
