A knifeman believed to be Russian is being hunted after he slashed a man close to a Blackpool war memorial.
The wanted man got into a row with a 19-year-old man and his friends close to the Cenotaph before lunging at him with the knife.
It causeda large cut on the victim’s stomach which needed stitches.
The attacker is described as white, around 25, 5ft 10ins tall, skinny with short, cropped, blond hair.
He speaks with an accent, which is possibly described as Russian, and may be known by the nickname ‘Angel’.
It happened at 1am on Saturday July 27 but details have only just been released by police.
Police are now studying CCTV footage.
Det Con Kate Buckingham, from Blackpool CID, said: “This is a serious offence and the victim is recovering after receiving hospital treatment for his wound.
“A knife was recovered nearby and seized for forensic examination but we need information from the public to help us catch the person responsible.
“CCTV enquiries show a man making away from the area via Queen Street and The Strand.
“We urgently need to trace this man and speak with him in connection with the incident.
“We believe he may work in a hotel in the South Shore area and potentially has an interest in motorbikes.
“Anyone who can assist our investigation in anyway should contact us urgently on 101.”
