A pregnant woman was hit with a wine bottle during a Blackpool street attack.

She was one of three women walking along Grasmere Road, close to a convenience store at around 1.15am on Saturday.

They were approached by a man, who started talking to them, and suggested they should go with him to a nearby party.

He then became aggressive towards them, and when one of the group dropped the bottle of wine she was carrying, he picked it up and struck on of the women with it.

Det Con Kate Buckingham from Blackpool CID said: “This was a frightening ordeal for these women who were approached by a random man on the street.

“We need people to come forward with information and help us try and identify this man so he can be brought to justice.

“If people were in the Grasmere Road area of Blackpool at the time of the incident then I would ask them to think about whether they either saw the incident or can remember anything suspicious.

“Fortunately the three women were not seriously hurt but it is important that we find the person who did this and deal with them in the appropriate way.”

The man is described as being around 19 years old, 5ft 4ins tall and of a medium build. He had short blonde hair, blue or green eyes and was wearing light brown shorts which fell just below his knees and a dark blue jacket or hooded top.
