A PERVERT who plied his victims with booze as he carried out a “lengthy and predatory campaign” of sex assaults on young boys has been jailed.

Peter Green, 64, from Staining, groomed his young victims by showing them pornography and providing them with alcohol.

Preston Crown Court heard he targeted three boys over a six-year period.

Green, of Old Mushroom Farm, Staining, had pleaded guilty to a total of 13 charges of indecent assault and indecency with a child.

Police said the offences dated back to the late 1980s and early 1990s, with boys under the age of 14.

The court was told Green was said to have carried out careful preparation over many weeks or months before abusing one of the boys, who was left deeply affected by what had happened to him.

Judge Robert Altham said that boy had been a “carefully chosen target”.

He said: “He feels an entirely misplaced sense of guilt when, on the contrary, his courage in coming forward is to be commended.”

The offences had taken place in Cumbria.

Green’s lawyer, Paul Robinson, told the court the defendant had entered an early guilty plea.

He said Green offered his sincere apology to the victims.

Mr Robinson also mentioned the defendant was a man of previous good character.

Judge Robert Altham sentenced Green to a total of six and a half years in prison.

In passing sentence, Judge Robert Altham told Green: “This was a lengthy and predatory campaign of damaging offending, aided by sophisticated grooming”.

Green was told he will be on the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely and barred from working with children.

He will also be the subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for 10 years.
