Police say there was no reason for concern over an alert that callers were knocking on doors in Blackpool claiming to be health visitors.
The alert was raised last week following a number of incidents in the Bloomfield Road area.
Officers are now of the opinion there was no danger,
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We posted a message urging parents to remain vigilant following two reports that a man had posed as a health visitor in Blackpool.
“Following our enquiries and as a result of our appeal, we can now confirm that these people were in fact employees from a market research company conducting surveys.
“This person did not enter the properties and did not have any contact with children. We are satisfied that there was no intent to commit a crime or gain access to children.”
