Police release fresh update after man is arrested over hit-and-run smash in Blackpool

A man arrested after a two-car hit-and-run crash that left three women hurt has been released under investigation, police said.

The 40-year-old, from Blackpool, was held on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after handing himself into the new police station in Marton on Thursday. A 38-year-old man, also from Blackpool, is due to be questioned after being released from Royal Preston Hospital, where he is being treated for an arm injury.

Police said officers were looking for two men who fled a blue BMW M4 after it collided with a Skoda Citigo in Garstang Road, Blackpool, at around 8pm on Wednesday.

A 25-year-old female passenger in the BMW suffered a serious leg injury, while two women in the Skoda, 57 from Poulton and 55 from Blackpool, each suffered a broken wrist. Witnesses were urged to come forward.
