Detectives are appealing for information after a 15-year-old boy was robbed of his mobile phone.

The victim was standing at a tram stop on Queens Promenade, Bispham, at around noon when he was approached by another teen thought to be around 16.

The thief engaged the boy in conversation before catching him off guard by grabbing his white Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile and running off down Knowle Avenue.

Officers said the victim chased the thief for a short distance and even asked for the assistance of a passer-by but unfortunately was unable to catch up.

The incident took place on December 21.

Det Con Neil Smith, of Blackpool CID, said: “ I would ask anybody who witnessed what went on or has knowledge of what may have happened to the mobile phone to contact the Police on 101.”

The thief is described as around 5ft 6ins tall with short black hair in a crew cut. He was wearing a black Adidas Tracksuit jacket, dark grey jeans and grey, white and black Adidas training shoes.
