British Transport Police officers will be out and about at Blackpool railway station today to advise commuters on ways to
report crime on trains.

Officers will be at the station between 4.30pm and 7pm to catch the commuter rush hour and urge passengers to make use of its 61016 text number to report incidents discreetly.

Commuters will be handed credit card sized cards which explain how to report non-emergency incidents.

Since its launch in March 2013 more than 10,000 messages have been sent to the non-emergency number which allows passengers to discreetly report any incidents of concern and receive a live response.

It has assisted in the arrest of offenders for anti-social behaviour, drunk and disorderly behaviour..
