Police investigate stabbing in Waterloo Road

An investigation is underway after a man was stabbed in Blackpool at the weekend.

The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital after the assault in Waterloo Road at 4pm on Saturday (February 29).

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The stabbing led to a heavy police presence in Waterloo Road, near Aldi, on Saturday evening.

Paramedics with North West Ambulance Service treated the man at the scene before taking him to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Lancashire Police said an investigation into the assault is underway.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at about 4pm to reports of an assault on Waterloo Road in Blackpool.

"A man in his 40s was taken to hospital suffering from stab wounds.

"His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

"Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information should contact police."
