Detectives in Blackpool are appealing for information following an unprovoked assault on a man in Bispham.

The attack took place on Sunday, June 1, at 12.30am on Ashfield Road, near Blackpool and The Fylde College.

The victim, 57, was walking home alone from a night out when he was approached by two men.

One launched an attack on the victim, punching him several times to the head until he fell to the ground. He was then repeatedly kicked. The pair then fled the scene.

Det Con Mat Frith from Blackpool CID said: “This was a callous attack on an innocent man who was just walking home.

“He needed hospital treatment and suffered a broken arm after trying to protect himself from being kicked, as well as bruising to his head and body.”

One man was white, slim, early 20s, 5ft 6in, with short brown hair, wearing a white T-shirt with dark shorts and a cap.

The second was in his early 20s, 6ft 1in, of a medium build with short brown hair and wearing a black tracksuit. It is believed he was carrying a ghetto blaster-type stereo.
