Police: Do not approach this wanted man

Police have launched a fresh appeal for a man wanted in connection with an attack which left the victim with bleeding to the brain.

Detectives are keen for information about Dale Docherty, 22, of Bowland Crescent, Grange Park.

At around 8.30am on October 15, a 36-year-old man suffered a serious head injury after he was attacked inside a property on Withnell Road.

The victim remains in hospital and is being treated for a bleed on the brain.

Following enquiries, police want to trace Docherty in connection with the offence. Despite previously appealing for information about his whereabouts, he has yet to be located.

He is described as white, 6ft 4in tall, of medium build. He is believed to be wearing a cast on one of his arms and has links to Blackpool, Manchester and Scotland.

Detectives are urging people not to approach him and warning anyone harbouring Docherty could face prosecution.

Det Insp Gareth Willis, of Blackpool CID, said: “Docherty is wanted in connection with a serious assault which has left a man very poorly in hospital.

“We are warning anyone who may seek to assist or harbour Docherty they face arrest and possible prosecution.

“He is a dangerous individual and we want to find him urgently.

“I would advise anyone who sees Docherty not to approach him but to contact the police immediately.

“Likewise, if Docherty sees the appeal, I would urge him to hand himself in.
