Officers were called to Thingamajigz, in Furness Avenue on the industrial estate, after two women refused to leave and instead berated staff, the force said.

One visitor said the row left both youngsters and parents upset, while two police vans and a car were pictured on the forecourt outside.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at 4.10pm on Saturday by the play centre to reports two women were shouting at staff and refusing to leave.

“There seems to be some sort of altercation. We are looking into it and will be making contact with the play centre and looking at CCTV.”

Nobody had been arrested yesterday, the spokeswoman added.

Manager Rob Walker said one of the women started yelling at staff after they tried to speak to her about rough behaviour between children on play equipment.

He said staff asked her to leave and called police as a ‘last resort’ when she refused and started swearing.

CCTV cameras caught her barging past a young girl, aged around 10, with the footage now set to be examined by officers, he said.

“It was a very difficult situation to deal with,” he added. “The staff had a screaming woman in their face but kept their cool and did their jobs correctly.

“The police came and she just carried on. You can’t behave like that.”
