Plumber went on crime spree after drinking

A plumber with a binge drinking problem committed a series of crimes after having too much alcohol.

James Austin spoke to a woman he was banned from contacting and caused damage at his mother’s home and that of a friend’s

Austin, 28, of Cheviot Avenue, The Belfry, Lytham, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order and three offences of damage.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Andrea Fawcett, prosecuitng, said Austin went to a friend’s Lytham home and there was a row on October 25.

Austin broke a glass and an outside wall lamp plus a lodger’s car wing mirror.

On November 2 after Austin had been put on a restraining order which banned him from contact with a woman he went into Henry’s bar, Lytham.

The woman was there and as she spoke to staff, explaining the situation and asking them to get Austin to leave, the defendant went up and spoke to her.

Austin then went to his mother’s Lytham home and broke a table there.

Peter Cave, defending, said: “He says he tends to be a binge drinker and once he has started he can not stop.

“This is a real waste of his life.

“He expects to go to prison today.”

He also told the court that Austin had now asked his GP for help with his alcohol problem.
