A DRUNKEN man who removed leg restraints police had put on him had to be pepper sprayed because he was so violent.
Steven Gilsenan, 21, of Sherbourne Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates Court.
Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police saw Gilsenan swing punches at another man and at bar doorstaff on Queen Street on April 14 about 2am.
Gilsenan resisted arrest, so he was put in leg restraints. At the police station he was so aggressive he had to be PAVA sprayed.
Gilsenan said a man had punched him as he walked past with his girlfriend and added: “He said I had battered him and I was arguing with him. I did not throw any punches at door staff.”
Gilsenan was fined £65 with £85 costs and ordered to pay the £15 victims’ surcharge by magistrates.
