A patient made race-hate remarks to a doctor and pushed him in the chest.

Jason Hughes told the medic at Blackpool Victoria Hospital : “You don’t belong here, get back to your own country”.

Hughes, 39, of Boston Way, Mereside, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault and threatening behaviour.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports and will be sentenced at a later date by District Judge Rod Ross sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Hughes had been admitted to an observation ward at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on September 30. He was later found lying on the floor.

A doctor and charge nurse took the view he was feigning his symptoms. Hughes then racially abused the doctor and pushed him in the chest.
