Two men walked out of a Co-op store with £76 of goods they had shoplifted.

Carl Blackledge, 31, and Mark Reid, 22, both of Reads Avenue, Blackpool, both admitted theft of the goods.

They were sentenced to eight weeks jail suspended for 12 month by Deputy District Judge James Hatton sitting at Blackpool Magistrates Court.

He told them: “You both have appalling records but I am giving you time to continue to address your drug problems.”

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said that the men stopped by police and were arrested when they could not produce a receipt for their goods.

“They both admitted what theyhad done,” she said.
