A delivery driver reversed into a parked car after drinking strong lager.

Simon Reed, 33, of Holmfield Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for two years and fined £200 with £85 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Peter Bardsley, prosecuting, said police received a report a sprinter van had been in an accident with a parked car on Northumberland Avenue on July 27 at about midnight.

Officers found Reed on the floor of his home.

He was almost three times over the limit with 95 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 micrograms is the limit.

John McLaren, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had the use of his works van to help his family move house.

During a break Reed drank some strong lager and when he went to move the van to a more suitable parking spot he reversed into a car.
