A Blackpool man made vile threats towards a police officer’s wife and their children.

Ashley Close, 41, admitted threatening behaviour when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.

Close, of Bright Street, was bailed until December 13 so that pre-sentence reports can be prepared on him.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said that the officer was called to an incident at Ma Kelly’s bar on Lytham Road.

The suspect was seen walking away from the bar and the officer stopped him in the street.

Close struggled when the officer tried to arrest him and put him into the police van.

Later at the police station Close made aggressive and nasty sexual remarks towards the PC’s wife and their children.

Sue Mugford, defending, said: “He apologises for what he said.

“He has no recollection of saying those unpleasant things but accepts he did.”
